Beginning on June 17th 2019, American citizens will be able travel to Brazil visa-free. Until then, American citizens must still have an e-visa confirmed prior to their departure flight to Brazil. Printing the PDF copy received by email upon completion of the visa is recommended.
Prior to last year, obtaining a physical Brazil entry visa was a time consuming and expensive process. The introduction of the e-visa in 2018 was welcomed as an efficient and less costly alternative to the outdated visa stamp.
Starting June 17th 2019: American, Australian, Canadian, and Japanese citizens will be granted a visa-free stay up to 90 days from their date of entry. An extension can be granted for an additional 90 days, not to exceed 180 days in a year.
